FAQs

What are Infrared Saunas?

Infrared saunas use infrared wavelengths to penetrate deep within your tissue, muscles, and joints. By targeting your body at a cellular level, the wavelengths encourage your core temperature to gently rise, thereby increasing blood circulation, stimulating the lymphatic, immune, and cardiovascular systems. Allowing the body and mind to reach a state of complete rest and rejuvenation.

What is the difference between a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna?

Traditional saunas or steam saunas heat the air around giving you that hot, humid and sweaty sauna experience. Whereas infrared saunas, also known as dry saunas as there is no steam, gently warm your core body temperature. Infrared wavelengths deliver a deep cellular level heat that soothes sore muscles, stimulates the lymphatic, immune and cardiovascular systems in a way that steam saunas cannot.

Infrared saunas also operate at a lower temperature than traditional saunas, making longer sessions more enjoyable and significantly more beneficial for your body and mind.

What are the benefits of Infrared Saunas?

Detoxification

The skin is our largest organ, and sweat is one of the major elimination channels for toxins. An infrared sauna increases your blood circulation, stimulates sweat glands, and releases built-up toxins in the body; such as lead, mercury, nickel, alcohol, nicotine, sulfuric acid and other organic and inorganic compounds.

Skin Health

The profuse sweating achieved during your infrared sauna session encourages your body to naturally cleanse your pores of toxins and helps shed dead skin cells. You will see improved tone, elasticity, texture and fresh color.

Skin Conditions

Infrared is the most effective wavelength for healing the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. The increased blood circulation draws your skin’s own natural nutrients to the surface. Regular infrared treatments have been shown to relieve acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns and cuts by minimizing the constant itch associated with these skin conditions. In addition, burns, cuts and open wounds heal more quickly, helping to reduce scarring.

 Anti-aging

Infrared sauna therapy has been shown to stimulate collagen and elastin production, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Muscle Recovery and Pain Relief

The deep infrared heat stimulates circulation, recovery and healing, by bringing oxygen to tissues, muscles and joints on a cellular level. The increase in blood circulation delivers oxygen-rich blood to oxygen-depleted muscles, so they recover faster.

Immunity and Wellbeing

Infrared wavelengths raise your core body temperature, inducing an artificial “fever”, which is the body’s natural mechanism to strengthen the immune response. An enhanced immune system, combined with improved elimination of toxins via intense sweating, increases your overall health and resistance to disease.

Stress Reduction and Sleep

Infrared saunas increase the production of the feel-good hormones dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, plus the sleep hormone melatonin. Whilst at the same time decreasing levels of the stress hormone cortisol. An infrared sauna returns your calm and peaceful state of mind and helps restore natural sleeping patterns.

How often should I use infrared saunas?

We recommend at least upwards of twice a week. By making SWEAT X WONDER part of your weekly wellness routine you will gain the most benefits. You can even use it daily, depending on your goals or health concerns. Be sure to talk to a medical practitioner if you have specific health concerns.

Who should be careful when using an infrared sauna?

Anyone with Cardiovascular conditions, individuals prone to bleeding, pregnant woman should avoid using saunas, and individuals suffering from chronic health conditions should always consult with their physician prior to use. If you are unsure about using infrared saunas, always consult with your doctor first.

Can I use the infrared sauna if I am pregnant?

A pregnant woman or those trying to conceive must not use the Sauna, we also discourage using the sauna when breastfeeding as the release of toxins may enter the milk, although this is a mother’s choice and can be managed individually.

How are the Saunas cleaned?

The saunas are thoroughly wiped down and cleaned between each session. The saunas are made with timber which is also a natural antibacterial and antifungal. Infrared lighting and high sauna temperature are also natural disinfectants.

What should I bring to my infrared sauna?

You can bring a towel, a change of clothing and a water bottle. We provide one towel per person and we have extra towels available for hire for $3. We have complimentary filtered alkaline water for all guests. You will have access to our in-house iPads which connect to our speakers inside the sauna so you can put on your choice of music or meditation.

Can I use my phone in the Sauna?

You can bring your phone in for a short period of time but we don’t recommend it. The high sauna temperatures will overheat your phone, similar to leaving your phone in direct sunlight or inside a car on a hot day.

Should I shower mid-way through a sauna?

We don’t recommend showering mid-way through your session. By showering mid-sauna you stop the detoxification process. If you must shower, please ensure you are thoroughly dry before returning to the sauna. Infrared saunas are dry saunas and water can easily damage them. We request that you please be seated on a towel throughout the duration of your session and be mindful of the water inside the saunas.

Should I shower after my sauna?

We recommend waiting 30 minutes after your sauna session to shower. Your body may continue to sweat for 30 minutes after a sauna session, if you can, it is best to wait until your body returns to its normal temperature. Embrace the sweat!

Are the infrared sauna rooms private?

Yes, our sauna rooms are 100% private. We have two sauna rooms located in a private and secluded space. Both rooms are the same size and you can select which room you would prefer when you book. Your room will be your own private sanctuary for the entire time of your booking. Each room is fitted with a stool, shelf, water and hooks for you to hang your towel.

Can I bring a friend to my Infrared Sauna session?

You can definitely bring a friend to your infrared sauna session! Two people can comfortably relax in our saunas. If you choose to bring a friend we charge an additional $12 per session.
